MOTHER PORTIA MOYE
Portia Moye attended Boise Elementary School and later graduated from Jefferson High School. After graduating High School she started her first year of College at University of Southern California, but after being homesick, she came back to Portland and attended University of Oregon. Her love for the Lord began in her early years of life. Her mother raised her to seek Christ with her whole heart. Portia’s kind and gentle presence would illuminate a room wherever she was, in the presence of family, friends, and loved ones.
Her early employment history included Meier & Frank, also known as Macys, a baker for Safeway, receptionist & intake worker for Urban League, and Wacker Siltronic where she retired after 18 years. Her last position was President of the SEIU Local 503 union. Every job Portia worked, she was a joy to be around. In 1963, she met the love of her life, George F. (Sack) Moye. They later married on May 22, 1978. Out of their union, they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Serena Veronica Moye and Cory Michelle Moye both of Portland, Oregon. Cory preceded her mother in death. Portia and George were married 43 awesome years!
Like her mother, Portia enjoyed her cake. It was a pleasure just to know Mother Portia as an angel on Earth. She never had anything negative to say about anyone. She loved all she came in contact with. She had such a sweet and kind spirit. She was very loyal and loving as she departed this Earth. Portia's number one goal was to praise her love for the Lord with her family and friends. She attended New Direction (aka Victory Temple) She was a faithful and active member, doing her ministry for many years. Portia loved cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Oh!!
She had a good time shopping with them. She loved her grandchildren so much.
Portia was preceded in death by her parents, Armster and Portia White; brothers, Samuel, Armster III “Ronnie”, and Anthony White; her beloved daughter, Cory Moye; and mother in-law, Mary E. Lewis.
